You get the most from a CoachTools trial by using it in your team’s everyday coaching. Start with one goal and put it into practice in a real training session. This helps you see how the platform fits the way your team works.
CoachTools is a coaching application for sports clubs and teams. It brings training planning, everyday team management, and athlete development tracking together in one place.
Who is this guide for?
This guide helps coaches, team staff, and people responsible for coaching at club level get started with a CoachTools trial. You can begin with one team or coaching staff group and consider expanding later.
A demo or a free trial?
During a demo, we discuss your club’s needs and show you the CoachTools features that can support them. During a trial, you use the platform yourself with your own team.
If you would like help choosing where to start, request a demo. Together, we can decide what your team should try first.
1. Choose one goal for your trial
Think about what you would like to make easier or improve in your team’s day-to-day work. For example:
- Training planning: find drills, build a session plan, and bring it together for your coaching staff.
- Listening to athletes: collect feedback after a session and discuss it with your players.
- Coaching staff collaboration: bring plans and drills together for shared use.
Choose one of these or another goal that matters to your team. You can introduce more features as your trial progresses.
2. Request your trial accounts
Complete the free trial form. Tell us about your team, your sport, and what you would like to try.
We will create trial accounts for you and your team and email you the instructions. No credit card is required, and the trial does not commit you to a subscription.
If you already have your accounts, you can go straight to logging in and preparing your first session.
3. Log in to the application
The CoachTools website and coaching application have different addresses:
- coachtools.net provides information about the platform, pricing, and requests for trials and demos.
- coachtools.app is the coaching application, where you log in with your account.
Follow the instructions you received by email. After logging in, check that you can see the correct team or club. If the team you expect to see is missing, contact us.
4. Plan your first real training session
Choose your team’s next training session and use CoachTools to prepare for it:
- Add the session to the calendar.
- Find suitable drills in the drill library or add your own.
- Build your session plan and record the goal of the session.
- Review the plan with your coaching staff.
Use the plan during training, then consider what made preparation or delivery easier. Was it easier to find a suitable drill? Was the session goal clear to everyone on the coaching staff?
You can start with session planning within your coaching staff and bring athletes in when you begin trying features intended for them.
5. Try athlete feedback
If your trial goal is to understand your athletes better, involve the team in giving feedback. Explain why you are collecting it and how you will use their answers.
Ask for brief feedback after a session. You can look at how the athletes felt about the session, how demanding they found it, and how they assessed their own performance.
Review the responses and return to one of your observations in the next session or a conversation with a player. This makes the feedback useful for coaching and shows athletes that their experiences are being considered.
6. Assess the benefits after a few sessions
Once you have used CoachTools in several training sessions, return to the goal you chose at the start:
- Was it easier to plan sessions or reuse previous plans?
- Was it easier for your coaching staff to prepare and work together?
- Did athletes provide information you could use in your coaching?
- Which feature would you like to introduce next?
Tell us what felt difficult or remained unclear, too. We can help you find a way of using the platform that suits your team.
If you would like to continue after the trial, explore the plans and pricing or talk to us about introducing CoachTools across your club.
